Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Senior Technical Program Manager for Kuiper will manage the engineering change control process. This role includes direct responsibility for program management of system and subsystem design and development changes across project, to ensure alignment of changes in compliance with the technical design, interfaces, requirements, and programmatic schedule, cost and production requirements. This is a highly technical role requiring experience with integrated hardware and software development as well as some appreciation for complex applications, along with strong aptitude to deep dive into the data . You will have significant influence over alignment, planning and execution of the system development and production throughout the project life cycle. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved at scale before. Key job responsibilities
This position requires a technical and program management background and direct experience developing relevant systems. You will create and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but will also roll up your sleeves and contribute directly by digging deep into the configuration data. A Senior TPM anticipates bottlenecks, uses great judgment to make trade-offs, and balances the business needs with technical constraints. Your ability to understand the big picture of the project design and anticipate and plan dependencies is crucial. Your ability to take large, complex projects, break them into manageable pieces, and deliver timely results is invaluable. You will work with a team of experts and drive the team to successfully accomplish the following activities:

•Coordinate and control engineering changes across a significant number of cross-functional engineering, production, and program-wide teams

•Coordinate and manage alignment, trade studies and analyses necessary to ensure that changes retain compliance with the technical design, interfaces, requirements, and programmatic schedule, cost and production requirements.

•Optimize the velocity of engineering changes through the coordination and application of mechanisms.

•Innovate and evolve Change Control mechanisms as the project evolves through its life cycle.

•Manage the project Change Control Board and mechanisms. Manage timeline, dependencies, and deliverables for engineering changes.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hardware, software, system integration and test development of complex systems across the full product life cycle – concept to production.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical lead, systems engineer, or technical program management role with significant experience architecting and integrating HW and SW into a complex system.
- 2+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams delivering products on schedule.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency with at least one schedule tracking tools such as MS Project, SmartSheet or alternative.
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Deal alongside the change management team to implement change management practices into overall project planning
- Identify and connect groups influenced by the introduction and modifications.
- Identify and express the transition and impacts from the viewpoint of individuals, procedures, strategies, and structures through stakeholders.
- Ensure the awareness is shared with affected viewers throughout the program
- Lead stakeholders with high sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
