DESCRIPTION

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

As part of the AWS Infrastructure organization, Data Center Planning and Delivery (DCPD) prepares for, plans, and builds the data centers that comprise the AWS cloud. We’re seeking an experienced Technical Infrastructure Program Manager in Herndon, VA to oversee data center security build projects and take a lead role in ensuring the successful deployment and launch of physical security infrastructure programs. This role will be engaging, requiring interaction with many internal Networking, Design Engineering, Construction teams and external partners. As such, visibility on your programs will be high and requires a technical PM with strong business acumen and precision communications.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator, both written and verbally, and possess 5+ years of experience in tactical project management of highly technical initiatives, as well as strategic program management.

An Engineering Degree or equivalent technical experience is required. Candidates possessing a background in software/hardware engineering, infrastructure operations, and/or IP/networking who have transitioned to a program management discipline will have a distinct advantage.

Strong judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence without authority, analytical talent, and leadership along with the capacity to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities are a must. A successful candidate will possess a background in technical infrastructure deployment, software/network engineering and data center infrastructure/operations. Your work will include supporting the construction and deployment of physical security packages. You will work closely with internal teams, Design Engineering, Construction, as well as Security Integrators, General Contractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with all security standards during the construction, testing, and acceptance phases of the projects. Experience in managing data center infrastructure deployments is a plus. A successful candidate will have proven to be capable to manage a global deployment strategy, work cross functionality with vendors, procurement, finance, operations, and software teams. This candidate will develop outcomes that will involve many types of hardware and software platforms and process development/optimization. Ability to travel 50% to support deployment and implementation globally.
