This new role “H&S Systems & Intelligence Specialist - DCPD” is for an experienced Health and Safety (H&S) Specialist, H&S Engineer, or H&S Manager who will support AWS Data Center Planning and Delivery (DCPD). Internally, you will partner with DCPD H&S teams and business leaders to establish, iterate, and support data-driven programs and intelligence mechanisms. You will manage H&S platforms from a "client" or "owner" perspective which accurately feed data into the business on H&S performance across DCPD projects. Using your technical skills, you will define system requirements, iterate existing system platforms, lead selection, onboarding and operationalization of new platforms/iterations. You will work closely with safety management system functions to ensure systems and tooling conform to AWS H&S policies, while delivering dashboards and intelligence reports in the form of Operational Business Reviews, Quarterly Business Reviews, and Monthly Business Reviews that delivers information based on the data. You will own the adminstration of the systems, intake escalations, oversee user training, and connect DCPD systems and intelligence to AWS corporate H&S systems and intelligence programs/requirements.
You will work under the direction of H&S Program Specialists, and deliver systems and intelligence on H&S performance to Regional Safety Engineers across the global regions.
(Americas, Europe Middle East Africa, or Asia Pacific/Japan China).

Key job responsibilities
You will create systems, dashboards, perform analysis of data and turn it into intelligence.
Examples:
• Using SQL, create and influence dashboards.
• Define system requirements of software platforms for H&S data sets.
• Produce intelligence reports for OBR, QBR, MBR business reviews with anecdotes of data trends which provide insight to performance.
• Intake escalations from field teams on feature iterations, problems, and interface with platform owners for resolution (Avetta, Procore, Austin, etc).
• Evaluate and prioritize system iterations, schedule changes, and create communication plans for launch announcements.
• Deliver training materials to field H&S teams on systems and intelligence platforms, which enable others to utilize the tooling for data driven decisions.
A day in the life
You will use data and anecdotes to tactically drive internal customers to manage H&S risks, which includes being an escalation path for issue resolution and managing site-based H&S team members and/or consultants. You will apply your knowledge of the jurisdictional requirements, regional best practices, cultural norms, and location specific characteristics to improve DCPD activities in H&S by jumping in and showing the business “this is what the data is telling us."
You must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise and consistent messages verbally, in written form, and/or public speaking forums. You will play a key role in deploying systems and intelligence tooling that manage H&S, while developing competencies and ownership of H&S in the business. You must have diplomacy, patience and tact to earn trust in relationships to effectively advise, instruct and challenge DCPD teams on H&S.
About the team
You will be integrated with a global network of H&S professionals including program specialists, regional safety managers, and regional safety engineers in operational teams.

Chicago, IL, USA
- 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience handling confidential information
- Experience using Structured Query Language (SQL) programming Language
- 3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience
- Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
- Experience defining, authoring, operationalizing safety data management systems and intelligence tools.
