Personalization’s (P13N) mission is to make Amazon more valuable for customers through relevant and timely product, program, and content recommendations and engaging shopping experiences. We delight customers by discovering the right items for them and making purchase decisions easier. We build systems and technology to enable teams across Amazon to personalize every customer interaction and optimize every aspect of these interactions using our proven techniques.

As a member of the Product Graph team within Personalization, you will play a key role in the establishment of a new platform, with opportunities to create enormous benefit for our customers and Amazon. You will take academic research from theory to production implementation by overcoming performance, scalability, and resiliency challenges. You should enjoy optimization through rapid experimentation, have high standards, and ability to implement in the face of ambiguity. Experiences in specialized areas such as Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Text Mining, Search, or Recommendation Systems is highly desirable.

- Build a robust and scalable platform that will enable a large volume of data to be processed and efficiently accessed.
- Work with cutting edge ideas and technology.
- Applying the latest in machine learning research to solving very large scale problems.
- Influence decisions in choosing the right technology to build components.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 4+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience on AWS Sagemaker, EMR

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
