Important Financial Information:
• Successful candidates may be eligible for staff housing and the reimbursement of relocation costs.
• Isolated Post Allowances (Northern Allowance) range from $13,000 to $44,000, which is based on if the employee has dependents or is occupying staff housing.

The saving of human life, relief of suffering and minimizing injuries and property damage through the development and delivery of programs, evaluation, training, exercises and related services in support of the marine environmental and hazards response (MEHR).
This opportunity can provide:
Real time experience in MEHR operations;
Training by Canadian Coast Guard MEHR Program Officers (subject-matter experts).

A pool of candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar temporary and/or permanent (indeterminate) positions with Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) for positions in Nunavut, Nunatsiavut, Nunavik, Northwest Territories and the marine areas of James Bay and Hudson Bay.
Please note: this process will only be available to the CCG Arctic Region and other Departments and Agencies who have positions in Nunavut, Nunatsiavut, Nunavik or the Northwest Territories and the marine areas of James Bay and Hudson Bay.

Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Equivalent experience: if you have on-the-job learning or other non-conventional training that you believe is equivalent to the secondary school diploma requirement, put it forward for consideration. The manager may accept a combination of education, training and/or experience in a related field as an alternative to the minimum secondary school diploma stated above.
Experience in the management of financial resources (such as forecasting, budget formulation and expenditure, commitment and control).
Experience in human resource management (such as staffing processes, employee performance evaluations, leave planning, planning and establishing work objectives, work scheduling or work assignments, etc.).
Experience leading the delivery of an operational program, operational centre or service in the marine environment such as, but not limited to, environmental incident response.
Experience working in the Arctic or on Arctic related files.
The following qualifications are not required for appointment, however, they may be what sets you apart from another applicant and may contribute to who is offered employment. There will be an opportunity for you to indicate whether or not you have the following certifications or experience.
Post-Secondary diploma from a recognized institution in a field related to the duties of the position.
Possession of a spill response training certificate and/or other CCG Pollution Response Officer (PRO) certification.
Experience interpreting legislation such as the Canada Shipping Act for application to an operational environment.
Experience or training in Project Management.
Experience working with Northern Inuit, First Nation or Métis partners or organizations.
Experience in leading Environmental Incident Response in the marine environment.
Ability to speak Inuktut.

Possession of Incident Command System 300 or higher certificate and/or Incident Command System Position Specific certification in Command or General Staff positions.
