A pool of candidates may be established to fill similar positions within Global Affairs Canada. Tenure and linguistic requirements may vary according to the position being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

A master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in Economics (more than half of graduate level courses in economics).

Degree equivalency

EC-04 Stream

• Experience in conducting economic analysis using quantitative data.

EC-05 Stream

• Significant* experience in undertaking current economic analysis (e.g. reporting on the state of the Canadian economy).

• Experience in conducting quantitative economic research.

*Significant experience is understood to mean the breadth, depth and diversity of experience normally acquired through performing a broad range of complex tasks that is typically acquired over a period of at least three (3) years as part of main duties and in a professional capacity.

EC-04 and EC-05 Streams

• Obtained high GPA in a Master’s program in Economics*.

*In top quintile of graduating class.

Degree equivalency

EC-04 Stream
• Work experience related to economic research (e.g. Teacher's Assistant, Research Assistant, co-op on an economics team).
• Conducting research using econometric techniques.

EC-05 Stream
• Experience conducting econometric analysis.
• Experience conducting economic research related to international trade.
