The Sr WHS Country Leader, MX will be primarily responsible for managing all health and safety related matters across our FCs and logistics operations team in Mexico. They will implement company safety policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, this individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce WHS risks in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates and Contractors. They must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
The Sr WHS Country Leader must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise, and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. This individual must instruct and train Operations Leaders on company safety policies and assist the regional teams in incorporating our safety standards at their sites. They will be required to identify best practices and incorporate them into our standards to continuously improve company safety policies. This Senior WHS Manager will be required to possess excellent safety program knowledge as well as relevant environmental and ergonomic expertise, and demonstrate this expertise when working with Operations.
The Sr WHS Country Leader, MX will also support WHS activities and programs related to new expansions and launches in the region to ensure new projects are executed safely without delays due to safety concerns. This individual will work closely with BD, Launch, Engineering, and other teams, providing WHS assessments at different phases.
The Sr WHS Country Leader, MX will be responsible for leading a team of WHS professionals. This individual must create and execute leadership development plans for their team members. They must communicate team expectations and give frequent and appropriate feedback to their team members, ensuring they are executing to the core competencies of an Amazon WHS professional. This individual must also demonstrate the ability to judge and assess WHS talent and select appropriate strengths matched to current and future business needs.
Key job responsibilities
• Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional regulations and the ability to work with these regulations and company policies.
• Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon WHS Policies.
• Measure the region's and sites' performance against published requirements in WHS policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
• Ensure WHS record-keeping and data integrity and provide Operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support business WHS initiatives.
• Deliver quality projects on time to Operations.
• Analyze WHS metrics and review weekly and monthly incident trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the WHS risk is highest.
• Analyze WHS review and audit results and develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury at other facilities.
• Audit the workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure that training, auditing, and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.
• Manage and mentor the WHS team in the assigned facilities.
• Lead injury reduction efforts by performing targeted Kaizens in partnership with the Operations teams based on the risks identified in each task/at each job position.
• Ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy. Audit the quality, delivery (including qualifications of the trainer), and effectiveness of all required WHS training.
• Review the deployed WHS tools and revisions for effectiveness to ensure continual improvement.
• Partner with corporate and other regional field WHS personnel to leverage global WHS best practices across Mexico's network standards.
