We launched Amazon Business (AB) in 2015 and are now serving more than 5 million business accounts worldwide. Whether the customer is a local business or a large Enterprise, AB builds the business-specific programs and features that make their procurement efficient and tailored to their needs. We are growing fast, and require talented Business Intelligence Engineers to help us scale.

Key job responsibilities
Develop Analytical Systems and Tools:
Design, implement, and maintain scalable, automated, and user-friendly systems, reports, and dashboards to support analytical and business needs. Ensure these tools provide ad-hoc access to large datasets for deep insights.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
Partner with data engineers, business stakeholders, and other cross-functional teams to gather requirements, establish new data pipelines, and deliver complete, insightful solutions. Foster collaboration to drive results and implement innovative solutions.
Optimize Data Performance:
Tune application and query performance using SQL and other relevant technologies. Ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of reporting models, data pipelines, and databases.
Perform Advanced Data Analysis:
Use machine learning and statistical techniques to infer the impact of product and policy decisions on business outcomes. Conduct deep-dive analyses of business problems, develop queries, and create visualizations for ad-hoc requests and ongoing reporting.
Automate and Simplify Reporting Processes:
Simplify and automate reporting and other data-driven activities. Develop self-service automated reporting processes and deep-dive tools to enable stakeholders to access and understand data with ease.
Ensure Data Integrity and Best Practices:
Establish and adopt best practices in data modeling, reporting, and analysis. Ensure data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation are maintained to the highest standards.
Provide Strategic Insights and Recommendations:
Develop business metrics and analysis to inform product strategy and influence key strategic initiatives. Communicate clear recommendations based on data insights to senior leadership and drive strategic business decisions.


A day in the life
As a BI Engineer in Amazon Business, you will work in one of the world's largest cloud-based data lakes. You will dive deep into big datasets with an expectation to deliver the best analytics and insights to senior business, technical, and finance leaders. You will partner with all areas of AB (from Technology to Sales, from Pricing to Marketing) to provide the data and models that are needed to drive decision making. You must be a self-starter and be able to learn on the go. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required as you will work with diverse teams.

About the team
Amazon Business Finance Analytics (ABFA) is the source of truth for AB WW financial data, and our analyses, dashboards, models and reporting ensure our leaders have the most up to date and reliable information to make the best possible business decisions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
- Proficient in Python and ETL using tools like (Airflow, Luigi, AB initio, Informatica)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
